Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to our team for assistance or advice regarding your specific claim or appeal.

Will I have to attend a hearing?

Possibly, but both VA and SSA hearings are primarily done through tele-conference. In-person hearings are highly unlikely and generally not recommended due to delay.

Will I have to attend a medical exam?

Medical exams are common though may not be necessary for clients with thorough medical history and paperwork. The VA is legally obligated to provide free claim-related exams for veterans in most cases.

How does the billing process work?

Fees are limited by federal statute and contingent on successful outcome. If successful, a percentage of your back-due benefits (first check only) will be withheld as attorneys’ fees.

Can you file my initial disability claim on my behalf?

Neal & Associates only represents clients who have already received a final decision on their administrative law (VA or SSA) claim.

Who can help me file an initial claim?

Social Security Claimants may visit or contact their local SSA office. Nationwide: 1-800-772-1213. Be prepared for long wait times.

Veterans may contact any local or national Veterans’ Service Organization. A popular choice is the Disabled American Veterans: 1-877-426-2838.
